Karla Gómez is a University of Florida graduate with a BFA in Dance. Her passion in the arts has drawn her into different branches not only in dance but also in theater. She was born in the Dominican Republic and quickly showed her love for the arts. She migrated at the young age of ten and quickly engaged in ballet classes at Ballet Concerto with Marta del Pino. She became part of several dance teams and companies such as The Caravan Dancers, Higher Ground, UM’s Hurricanettes, UF’s Floridance and DANZA, among others. In 1998, she performed in The Super Bowl with the Hurricanettes. She founded, choreographed for, and directed UF’s first diverse dance company, DANZA. She also worked as assistant manager of UF’s proffesional modern dance company The Florida MOD Project. As her Senior Project, Karla created a very unique modern dance piece, Secret Contempt, which was chosen by the faculty to be performed in the American College Dance Festival in Texas as well as the Florida Dance Festival in Miami 2002.

UF has blessed her with many prestigious awards and honors such as the Multicultural Scholarship Award, and The Judy Manson Award. She has made her way to teach in different settings and schools such as Miami Sunset Senior High, South Miami Senior High, The Vision Academy, Dancing in XS and Cristi’s Dance studio. Today she opens her own academy to share her extensive and diverse knowledge with today’s youth.

Belly Dance

Kelly has been studying Middle Eastern Dance for over 5 years. She is very grateful to be an active member of Virginia's performing company Wa Nour Al Ayun.
She has studied with and performed for legendary instructors such as M. Reda, Mr. Youssry Sharif, Raquia Hassan, etc. She has also had the pleasure of
performing for the Saudi Arabian Royal Family. She has performed in many places which include Paris, Egypt, NY, Argentina, and more.
Kelly also enjoys teaching very much because she likes to help woman and girls get in touch with their feminine spirit!

Born in Miami, Jaife began dancing at the very early age of 3 at her pre-school. She continued training seriously with Liana Navarro and Vivian Tobio at the age of 9 and was asked to join Liana's Selected Workshop shortly after. With Vivian Tobio she performed in works such as Petipa's Esmeralda and Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty. With Liana Navarro she competed in national competitions, winning multiple awards such as the 1st place and Hope Award at the Youth American Grand Prix in New York City. She continued with Liana Navarro and began training at Artistic Dance Center with Elizabeth Acuna-Nuevo. At Artistic Dance Center she performed works such as the Arabian Solo in Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. She was selected to attend many summer programs including American Ballet Theater in New York City and Harrid Conservatory in Boca Raton. Recently Jaife represented the University of Miami as Miss Univeristy of Miami at the 2009 Miss Florida America pageant. She placed top 10 and was awarded the People’s Choice Award.
Currently she is attending the University of Miami majoring in Marketing with a minor in Dance. She also teaches at Children's Dance at School and choreographs for Miranda Production Inc. fashion shows.

 

 


Flamenco



Nace en Caracas, Venezuela, el 20 de Junio de 1978. Comienza sus estudios de danza en Caracas a los 4 años, haciendo Ballet y jazz en la Escuela de Siudy Quintero. Posteriormente se inicia en el flamenco con Pasión Flamenca, bajo la dirección de Begoña Sánchez, estudia también con otros maestros de importante trayectoria como Patricia García, Daniela Tugues, Gabriela Reyes, Deiweif Stephenson, Carlos Mezza y Rebecca Rivero. Paralelo a esto, en el año 2003, perfecciona sus conocimientos de danzas árabes de la mano de Noura Farid en la Academia Angelez de Luz y posteriomente Academia de baile Vidance, asciende rápidamente para formar parte de su Compañía Profesional “Malikat al Racks”, cuyo lanzamiento fue realizado con el maestro Hossam Ramzy y su esposa Serena Ramzy.
En el año 2008 viaja a Egipto para profundizar sus estudios de Danza Arabe e indagar en su estilo propio, con los maestros Dr. Mohedawi, Mona el Said, Randa Kamel, Asmaham, entre otros.
Comenzó su carrera como docente en el año 2002, como profesora de danza árabe y Flamenco en varios colegios de la capital y en la Escuela de Baile Tatiana Reyna como profesora regular desde el año 2005, actualmente es la socia (50% acc) de la sede Vizcaya, desempeñándose como directora General y Académica, así como también figura y coreografa independiente.
Fue Miembro de la Compañía Profesional Tatiana Reyna desde el año 2009, Compañía de Gabriela Reyes “Las Canelas”, desde el 2005.
